Thank you for the resources that you provide to help us Lipedema patients. I sent the letter to the CDC today. I hope that the CDC will hear our cry for support. Best regards!
Hi Michelle, I just sent the letter to the CDC. Thank you for all you do! In addition, I'm having my first of 4 lipedema surgeries this week. This one is covered/pre authorized in full by my insurance company. Next, I'm appealing the denial of the skin excisions that are in my treatment plan that will be done at the same time of liposuction of different parts of my body. Hump I'm running into is that my health plan summary says skin excisions are excluded unless they are reconstructive, which, in my case, they are, as my surgeon has specificially outlined in his letter to them and my treatment plan. Any assistance with appeals resources for this scenario area appreciated. Please add me to the one month full access to your newsletters, per the offer. Thank you sooo much!
Hi, Victoria! Thank you for this. I've comped you for a paid month. I'm so excited for you to get your surgery! I'm curious, who is your surgeon? Many insurances refuse to cover skin extraction because it doesn't interfere with function of the body. Your surgeon needs to show that your excess skin after liposuction will interfere with body movement or increase risk of infection. Even then, it will be a struggle. Keep me updated! I love hearing women's stories and their successes with lipo surgery.
Thanks very much for your advocacy, Michelle! I just sent the email. I'm just now beginning the arduous process of getting insurance approval for surgery. Glad to have found you.
I sent, Michelle and I added a small paragraph of what I had experienced and paid for out of pocket. and asked for Help. I also told them I take a pamphlet every where I go and more education is needed also. I told them I was a retired nurse that is not afraid to speak up ! when I do go to doctors. I am also send to my therapist, also.
